For quite a long time, I’ve had a rather highly ranked wishlist item of new speakers for the downstairs Sonos players (both connect:amps). And now it’s all into place 🙂
That little black-faced white box on the bottom shelf is the newest addition: an Argon Sub640 (from Danish Hi-Fi Klubben) that surely does good things to the bass levels in the office. The black thing to the right? That’s our flatcoat – who would much rather come over to me and have his fur ruffled than posing in pictures.
Actually, the sub was bought at the same time as the main speakers – but it was only today that I had both a long enough cable and the energy to get the down into the crawlspace and get the cabling done, nicely and out of the way.
The sub supplements two nice and small Argon C1s (below). As we have a similar set of these in the kitchen, it’s easy to set both zones to play the same music and walk back and forth – all of 10-12 steps – and listen to the music with and without the subwoofer. It certainly makes a difference!
I actually wanted to put the sub in the kitchen – after all, I do more and more listening to music there along with the cooking. But I just can’t find a place to put it.
Writing this, though, I am enjoying what it does to the music. And for my fellow musicophiles out there, this is the list of “fairly bass containing” tracks I’ve been running tests on so far (No! No drum’n’bass – just won’t happen…):
On The Road Again (AVO Sessions Live) – Katie Melua
Comfortably Numb (Live) – Pink Floyd
Close Your Eyes – Sinne Eeg
(the only instrument with Sinne’s vocal is, in fact, a double bass)
Links 2 3 4 – Rammstein
Played-A-Live – Safri Duo
Move In The Right Direction – Gossip
Kun for mig – Medina
Poker Face – Lady GaGa
Amerika – Rammstein
I Hate Myself For Loving You – Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
Rund Funk (Funkshowets går meget sent i seng mix) – Shu-Bi-Dua
