The week before Christmas for quite a number of people I know ended in bed with a winter cold. This household was not spared, either – but even though there is the odd elephant trumpeting of a nose being blown, all are well and the Christmas quiet and spirit has invaded the house.
And my daughter’s home for Christmas 🙂
Right now, the duck is roasting in the barbeque outside, filled with apples. The tree was set up and adorned yesterday and “brown cookies” (brune kager, a Danish must have for Christmas) are available. The Christmas candles have made it down to 24 – in other words, it’s Christmas and we’re quite ready 🙂
(Short explanation: In Denmark, Christmas is celebrated on the evening of the 24th – traditional dinner of duck or pork, mostly; singing around the Christmas tree, opening of presents and way, too much music and maybe a little too much redwine or port. All very nice!)
The music in the house is all Christmas music – the kitchen and office speakers are both on the 24-7 Christmas radio station. But rather then just get the playlist from the radio station, here is a short list of my Christmas favourites –
Winter Wonderland – Eurythmics
Blue Christmas – Melissa Etheridge
Merry Christmas Baby – Melissa Etheridge
Run, Rudolph, Run – Chuck Berry
Driving Home for Christmas – Chris Rea
Merry Christmas everyone!
